So God Made a Family
He knew you would need someone to turn to in the middle of the night that would hold you close instead of push you away.
So God made a family.
He knew the road ahead would be hard in some places, smooth in others, and that the journey would be easier if you had someone by your side.
So God made a family.
He knew you needed someone to play games with until midnight, and laugh at the same jokes you tell every year at Christmas dinner.
So God made a family.
He knew you needed someone who had walked your story with you, with all of its highs, lows and in-betweens. Someone who didn’t need a back story because they had already been in the story.
So God made a family.
He knew you needed someone who would listen to you vent without interrupting, and would know that there are times to give advice, times to give support, and times to keep quiet.
So God made a family.
He knew you needed someone to sing off-key karaoke with, watch cheesy movies with, and would only laugh a little at your pitch or your taste.
So God made a family.
He knew you would need someone who would witness your temper tantrums and love you anyway.
So God made a family.
He knew there would be times you would make mistakes or lose your way, and you needed someone who would wait for you to come back to them.
So God made a family.
He knew you would need people that would make you laugh until you cry, and would be with you when you cry until you could laugh again.
So God made a family.
He knew you needed someone you could share your successes with and your failures with, and who wouldn’t judge your worth based on either one.
So God made a family.
He knew you would need someone who could tell when you needed to be alone, but who would grab your hand when you shouldn’t be alone anymore.
So God made a family.
He knew the world isn’t perfect, and people sure aren’t either, but being with other imperfect people who will lift you up, hold you steady and lean on you sometimes, too, makes doing the next right thing so much easier.
So God made a family.
